Dear all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Following the Government announcements regarding the lifting of lock-down restrictions, the committee have been discussing the next steps we could take towards the resumption of organised club walks.

As you may know, there has been some slight easing of Covid restrictions this month. You can now meet one person outside your household/bubble for recreation, not just exercise, so it is OK to sit outside for a coffee and a natter with a friend. From 29th March six people (or two households even if that is more than six people) can meet up outside.

It is important to remember that Covid is still very much with us, so please continue to exercise caution when walking with people outside your household. Stay two metres apart wherever possible, wear a mask where two metres is not possible if you are able to do so, carry hand gel and use it frequently especially after contact with gates, stiles etc. If anybody needs help finding a small group of people to walk with or finding additional walkers for your group, please contact Anne Lang using the contact details on this website. Remember that the maximum number for a group after 29th March will be six.

The message is still to minimise journeys as much as possible, avoiding busy routes and times. There are different restrictions applicable to Wales and Scotland with different review dates, but non-essential travel to those areas is not currently permitted.

The Ramblers (formerly the Ramblers Association) have decided not to start any group activities until the next relaxation of measures which is due on the 12th April and we intend to follow their guidance on this. After that date there is the possibility of walks for larger groups being organised by the club. We will update on this nearer that time and if they do go ahead it would be on a local basis with walkers making their own way to the walks. It is highly unlikely that coach trips will be possible until the summer when most restrictions have been lifted due to the difficulties of social distancing. We will send out further updates as things evolve.

Stay safe everyone.
